A DSLR full body 3D scanner relies on photogrammetry to create a 3D scan.

Photogrammetry works by finding shared features between multiple

photographs to calculate depth. 


The cameras have a special peripheral attachment that can synchronize the captures so all cameras fire at the same time.


Handheld 3D scanners used in 3D photography typically rely on structured light to calculate the geometry of the subject being 3D scanned.


3D scanning someone with a handheld 3D scanner works by having the person stand still as you slowly move the 3D scanner around them to capture the different parts of their body.


Turntable-based 3D body scanners rely on the same technology as handheld

3D scanners (structured light) created to eliminate the need for a human being to walk around and scan people with a handheld 3D scanner. The subject steps onto a platform and holds still while the platform rotates and a mounted 3D sensor moves up and down until the entire person completes

their 3D body scan.

A 3D scan in augmented reality is made by loading a real-time specialized 3D renderer in an app with a model of you visible on it on your smartphone. The 3D scan of you is fixed in space and will stand on any flat surface, and you can rotate around it and take hilarious photographs with them!  To get a 3D model of yourself and others you can either 3D model it from scratch (super time-intensive) or get 3D scanned through Holod3ck  and enjoy loading your augmented reality model in 15-20 minutes after being scanned – no 3D modeling required!.

Our latest 3D Printing Technology

These are 3 Types of  Full Color 3D printing technology we are using:


1.   3D Printers using Sandstone Ceramic

2.  3D Printers using Nylon

3.   Full Resin-Based 3D Printer. 

 

 

3D Printers using Sandstone Ceramic and Nylon

Both use a multi-jet fusion process to 3D print. Multi-jet fusion works by first spreading a thin layer of powder over a bed. Inkjet nozzles then pass over the powder and release agents (to both fuse and prevent from fusing) on different parts of the powder bed. Next, a high energy IR source passes over the power to sinter the powder together. The process repeats many times until a full 3D object is created. Once complete the unsintered powder is recycled to use in another print build.

3D Printers using resin 

Full-color resin 3D prints works by firing resin out of inkjet print heads and then curing it with a special UV light. 

The basic process is:

  1. Resin is fired out of inkjet print heads and cured by a UV LED light
  2. Once it completes a layer, a roller flattens out the layer and the UV LED light is fired again
  3. After a layer is complete, the build platform moves down and the process repeats


Dissolvable support materials are used in cases where a part has an overhang. Supports are later removed in post-processing. 

Main Benefits

3D printed figurines produced with full-color resin 3D printing are much stronger and have better color quality than parts produced with full-color sandstone 3D printing.

  • More freedom in how to pose- With parts being stronger, 3D prints are much less likely to break during the 3D printing process allowing your customers to be much more expressive in how they pose. While there are still some constraints, stuff like arms/fingers spread apart, brims of hats, and other intricate details are much less of an issue to 3D print with full-color resin.
  • Longer lasting products- In addition to being stronger, full-color resin 3D prints are more water-resistant than the full-color sandstone product. This means they'll likely be more resistant to humidity. Also, being stronger not only means more freedom in how to pose but also means the print is less likely to be damaged if a customer accidentally drops it.
  • Smaller sizes- Full-color resin 3D printing also means being able to 3D print at much smaller sizes while still retaining detail. This makes offering 1-inch and 2-inch 3D printed figurines a possibility: opening up brand new use cases for the product.
